Stephen J. Page l Paul Brunt l Graham Busby l Jo Connell

Stephen J. Page is Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley Chair in Tourism, Department of Marketing, at the University of Stirling in Scotland. He was formerly Professor of Tourism Management and Director, Centre for Tourism Research, Massey University, New Zealand. Recently, he has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Plymouth, UK and Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia and has given seminars at universities in the UK, Singapore, Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand. He is the Series Editor for the Thomson Learning, Tourism and Hospitality management Series and Series Editor of Pearson Education's Themes in Tourism Series. He is also Editor of Elsevier Sciences's Advances in Tourism Research Series and has been the Associate Editor of the tourism journal - Tourism Management - since 1986. He has written, co-authored and edited 12 books on tourism, the most recent being The Geography of Tourism and Recreation: Environment, Place and Space and The Tourism in South and South East Asia (both with Michael Hall). He has also advised government agencies and public and private sector bodies as a tourism consultant and maintains a close working relationship with tourism industry agencies particularly in the field of tourist health and safety. He has just completed a funded studey of tourist health and safety in the adventure tourism industry in New Zealand and tourism and crime associated with Auckland's hosting of the America's Cup in 1999/2000 in conjunction with two postdoctoral research fellows at Massey University, New Zealand.

Paul Brunt graduated from Bournemouth University in 1986 with an honours degree in Geography and then continued research into tourism decision-making to PhD level. He was appointed to set up the University of Plymouth's tourism degree in 1989 and has since published articles on the sociocultural impacts of tourism, tourism and crime and a book, Market Research in Travel and Tourism (Butterworth-Heinemann).

Graham Busby worked in the travel and tourism industry for several years before joining the staff of Newbury College, and, in 1994, the University of Plymouth; he holds degrees from Surrey and the Open University besides a Licentiateship from City & Guilds. He has published articles on tourism education, literary tourism and is currently researching the links between Cornish churches and tourism.

Jo Connell is a Lecturer in Tourism at the University of Stirling. She graduated from the University of Plymouth with an honours degree in Rural Resource Management in 1993 and holds a Master's degree in Tourism and Social Responsibility from the University of Exeter. She has published articles on campus-based tourism and social responsibility issues. Her current research focuses on the significance of gardens as a resource for tourism and recreation.
